At miqpo, your privacy is fundamental. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it and what rights you have over it.
This policy is designed in accordance with:
- Law 1581 of 2012 (Personal Data Protection - Colombia)
- Decree 1377 of 2013 (implementing the data protection regime)
- International information-security best practices
1. Data we collect
1.1 Registration data
- Required: full name, email, password and date of birth
- Optional: profile photo, phone number, gender and bio
1.2 Verification data
- Institutional email (university or company)
- OTP code (temporary, not stored)
- Institution associated with the domain
- Verification date
1.3 Trip data
- Published trips (origin, destination, date, price, seats)
- Bookings made
- History of completed trips
- Ratings and comments received and given
1.4 Usage data
- IP address
- Device and browser type
- Pages visited and actions taken
- Date and time of activity
- Cookies (see section 6)
1.5 Communication data
- Messages sent through the internal chat
- Support emails sent and received
- Reports and complaints

3. Who we share your data with
3.1 With other users
When you publish a trip or book one, certain data is visible to other users in your community:
Visible:
- Name, profile photo and institutional badge
- Public ratings and comments
- Trip history (count, not details)
Never shared:
- Personal email
- Phone number
- Home address
3.2 With service providers
We share the minimum data necessary with:
- Cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud): hosting and data storage
- Email service (Brevo): sending notifications and transactional emails
- Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging): sending alerts to your device
- Usage analytics: aggregated and anonymized metrics
We share only the minimum data necessary and require our providers to meet confidentiality and security standards consistent with Law 1581 of 2012.
miqpo's commitment
We never sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes.
4. Your rights over your data
Under Law 1581 of 2012, you have the right to:
Access
Request a copy of all your stored data (exportable as JSON/PDF from Settings).
Rectification
Correct incorrect or outdated data (edit your profile whenever you like).
Deletion
Request the deletion of your account and your data (irreversible process, takes 30 days).
Objection
Object to the processing of data for marketing (tap "Unsubscribe" in the emails).
Portability
Export your data in a readable format (CSV/JSON) to use on another platform.
Restriction
Request that we restrict the processing of certain data while we resolve a dispute.
How to exercise your rights
- Send an email to privacidad@miqpo.com
- Include: full name, registered email and the specific request
- We'll respond within a maximum of 10 business days for inquiries and 15 business days for complaints
- If you're not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (Colombia) or your local authority
5. How long we keep your data

After these periods, the data is permanently deleted or anonymized (impossible to identify the person).
6. Use of cookies
Cookies are small text files your browser stores to remember preferences and improve your experience.

SSL/TLS encryption (HTTPS) on all communications
Passwords protected through hashing by our authentication provider (never in plain text)
Secure access and authentication controls
Servers on cloud infrastructure with managed security controls
Encrypted backups
Periodic security reviews
Restricted data access (authorized personnel only)
No system is 100% secure.
If you detect suspicious activity on your account, change your password right away and notify seguridad@miqpo.com.
